Useful information
So, I have been meaning to post these random things....maybe they'll be helpful for you too.
- Plastic magnetic alphabet letters can scratch your fridge! We are no longer useing them.
- The Disney Give a day. Get a Day. program was easy and works! I got a free ticket to Disney for volunteering :)
- Seems like there are a lot of people getting lots of free stuff from Walgreens and CVS. So, I tried it. It was a little frustrating to start with, since our newspaper doesn't have both coupon inserts in our weekend paper. Apparently they rotate. Red Plum one week, and SmartSource the next. So, for my first trip last week, I spent around $4.50 at Walgreens and got $5 in register rewards, that I plan to use this week. For my $4 I got toothpaste and 2 fancy chapsticks. So, my plan for this week is not to spend any out of pocket and get more stuff :) We'll see. Not sure if it's really worth it, as I wasted a lot of time getting the coupons etc. Now that I have been collecting them, we'll see.

Haiti
Please pray for those in Haiti, especially our friend Guirelene and her family. Thankfully, she doesn't live too close to the epicenter of the earthquake, but we're still worried about how she and her family/friends are effected. Here's a link to compassion's disaster relief fund for those in Haiti, if you are interested in helping.

Also, here's a message we received from Compassion....
The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday has resulted in unfathomable chaos and devastation for hundreds of thousands of children and families.
Compassion sponsors and donors serve more than 65,000 children in Haiti. At least a third of them live in the areas that were hardest hit.
We know that you sponsor Guirlene Normil and that you must be very concerned. Be assured that we are working to locate your child and determine her specific situation as quickly as possible. We will share this personal update with you as soon as we have that information.
I am asking you to please send a generous gift today to help all the precious Compassion-assisted children and their families who have been affected by this crisis. We are working rapidly to assess the situation and determine the full extent of damage: Sadly, we anticipate there will be many deaths. We anticipate thousands of children and families will have lost everything. We anticipate many of our church-based child development centers will have been destroyed. Without a doubt, the children we serve in Haiti are in shock and face immediate needs for food, water, medical care, shelter, and counseling. We have teams prepared to respond, and we are deeply committed to helping each child.
We need your donation today. Please reach out in the name of Jesus to bring relief, comfort, love and restoration to precious children and families whose lives have been devastated by this crisis.
Thank you for caring, Dr. Wess StaffordPresident, USA
P.S. If you would like to give by phone, please call us at (800) 336-7676. Check donations can be mailed to: Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997.

Compassion
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We are very blessed and very thankful for each of you.
We want to share a little about our desire to help children in need. Three years ago we decided to sponsor a child through Compassion International, and selected Guirelene Normil, an orphan from Haiti, who is now 16. It has been such a blessing to us to be able to help her. We are able to send her letters and cards, and then she will write us too, often with some of her personal drawings. Although we don’t write as often as we should, it’s comforting to know that our $38 a month is providing meals, a Christian education and most of all our prayer and support.
Recently, Compassion challenged us to help find a sponsor for another child, Amina Kasimu Kingu from Tanzania. Amina is 6 years old and lives with her aunt. As no other sponsor will receive Amina’s information through January, we are reaching out to you for help. We know that all of you have many important financial and charitable obligations but we do ask that you would consider sponsoring Amina, or any other child through Compassion International. If you are interested in sponsoring Amina, we have some additional information about her and a packet to help you get started, which we would be happy to send (or deliver) to you. For more information about Compassion International and sponsoring a child, you can visit http://www.compassion.com/. To sponsor Amina you can also call Compassion at (800) 336-7676 and give them her Compassion ID number (TZ2110334). If you have any questions, please call or e-mail us.
Honestly, we are not completely comfortable asking for money and we do not want you to feel pressured or obligated, as we understand everyone has financial burdens, especially during the holidays. Most importantly, we just ask that you include Guirelene and Amina in your prayers.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas full of God’s blessings!
Merry Christmas!
“Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all – he is the greatest.” Luke 9:48
