We hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We are very blessed and very thankful for each of you.
We want to share a little about our desire to help children in need. Three years ago we decided to sponsor a child through Compassion International, and selected Guirelene Normil, an orphan from Haiti, who is now 16. It has been such a blessing to us to be able to help her. We are able to send her letters and cards, and then she will write us too, often with some of her personal drawings. Although we don’t write as often as we should, it’s comforting to know that our $38 a month is providing meals, a Christian education and most of all our prayer and support.
Recently, Compassion challenged us to help find a sponsor for another child, Amina Kasimu Kingu from Tanzania. Amina is 6 years old and lives with her aunt. As no other sponsor will receive Amina’s information through January, we are reaching out to you for help. We know that all of you have many important financial and charitable obligations but we do ask that you would consider sponsoring Amina, or any other child through Compassion International. If you are interested in sponsoring Amina, we have some additional information about her and a packet to help you get started, which we would be happy to send (or deliver) to you. For more information about Compassion International and sponsoring a child, you can visit http://www.compassion.com/. To sponsor Amina you can also call Compassion at (800) 336-7676 and give them her Compassion ID number (TZ2110334). If you have any questions, please call or e-mail us.
Honestly, we are not completely comfortable asking for money and we do not want you to feel pressured or obligated, as we understand everyone has financial burdens, especially during the holidays. Most importantly, we just ask that you include Guirelene and Amina in your prayers.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas full of God’s blessings!
Merry Christmas!
“Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all – he is the greatest.” Luke 9:48
